Julia Maimone just celebrated her 16th Birthday, but it was one her family worried she may never see. Ten years ago, Julia's bone marrow failed due to Fanconi anemia and she required a bone marrow transplant. A decade later, Julia is doing well, but Fanconi anemia still threatens her life with early onset cancer at a rate 700x's the average. Without research to find better detection, treatments, and a cure, this threat will remain with Julia indefinitely. Julia has many more starring roles to play in her life so we need to help ensure she takes the stage.
Ken Atkinson, co-founder of KATA,had a mission to find better treatments and a cure for the disease that killed his children, Fanconi anemia. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short before he had that opportunity. Now it is up to his daughter, Allison, her close friends Ryan and Emily, and you, our followers and supporters, to take up the torch, raise awareness and funds for those with Fanconi anemia, support this incredible effort, and watch the KATA26.2 team run for THEIR lives!
On November 5th, Allison, Ryan and Emily will run the NYC Marathon - 26.2 miles - to raise funds for Fanconi anemia research. Emily and Ryan are dedicating MILE #4 of her marathon to Julia to support her in her continued fight against Fanconi anemia. Please consider a tax deductible donation to honor Julia and show your support for her as well as she battles this devastating disease!
The KATArun Team would like to raise $1000 in honor of each FA Fighter before the NYC Marathon on November 5th. Please help achieve this lofty goal with a donation in Julia's honor. Click on the link above! Thank you for your consideration and support.
