Hayleigh's journey with Fanconi anemia just began in February, but it's already been a tough road and she just hit a major road block. Hayleigh had a bone marrow transplant this past summer, losing all of her beautiful long hair (but not before she cut 25cm to donate to cancer patients). And just recently, she had to be readmitted to the hospital because she has CMV virus and no immune system to fight it off. Hayleigh dreams of camping with her family one day though and it motivates her to keep on fighting!
Ken Atkinson, co-founder of KATA,had a mission to find better treatments and a cure for the disease that killed his children, Fanconi anemia. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short before he had that opportunity. Now it is up to his daughter, Allison, her close friends Ryan and Emily, and you, our followers and supporters, to take up the torch, raise awareness and funds for those with Fanconi anemia, support this incredible effort, and watch the KATA26.2 team run for THEIR lives!
On November 5th, Allison, Ryan and Emily will run the NYC Marathon - 26.2 miles - to raise funds for Fanconi anemia research. Allison dedicating MILE #18 of her marathon to Hayleigh to support her in her continued fight against Fanconi anemia. Please consider a tax deductible donation to honor Hayliehg and her courage as she fought this disease.
The KATArun Team would like to raise $1000 in honor of each FA Fighter before the NYC Marathon on November 5th. Please help achieve this lofty goal with a donation in Hayleigh honor. Click on the link above! Thank you for your consideration and support.
